The objectives of the Research Center include, first of all, updating and updating the information and representation base of the historical exhibition of the museum, as well as stimulating research on the entire range of topics related to Eastern European Jewry. An important component of the center’s work is scientific and educational activities. In this regard, the center seeks to occupy a special niche in Russian-language Judaic studies, taking on integrating and mediating functions and not duplicating the functions of existing scientific and educational structures. In addition, the center’s tasks include replenishment and processing of existing museum funds.

Activities:
  • development of forms of representation of objective information about Jewish history and culture;
  • historical and cultural studies and publications;
  • working with archival documents;
  • creation of a scientific forum on issues related to the connection of scientific research with the presentation of information;
  • streamlining information flows in everything that concerns Eastern European Jewry;
  • stimulating research and various forms of popularization of the history and culture of Eastern European Jewry (temporary exhibitions, excursions, educational programs, publication of scientific works);
  • consulting and expert services

Expert advice

The Expert Council is a voluntary association of persons with special knowledge in the field of history and culture of the Jewish people. Members of the expert council are attracted by the Research Center to support its scientific, project, information and other activities.


Tasks of the expert
council

  1. Providing advisory assistance in identifying new current tasks and areas of activity of the center;
  2. Determining the possibility and direction of cooperation of the center with international and Russian scientific and educational centers;
  3. Scientific and expert assessment of various areas of the center’s activities (development of updates to the main exhibition, temporary exhibitions, conferences, publications and other projects of the center);
  4. Activities of the expert evaluation commission for the purchase and evaluation of stock items.
