Federal Research and Methodology Center for Psychology and Tolerance Education is the leading Russian institution that provides research, methodology and program design in the area of tolerance, cross-cultural communication, diversity & inclusion, extremism and bulling prevention.

The global humanitarian community has awarded Tolerance Center with the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence in recognition of its activities. 

Tolerance Centre implements its programs in close partnership with federal and regional authorities in charge of the policies in education, youth affairs, regional politics and culture. Cooperation with local and international corporate partners is built around implementation of diversity & inclusion policies, staff development and corporate social responsibility programs.

Currently, the Tolerance Center has in its portfolio more than 160 interactive training programs that run across regions of the Russian Federation, annually covering over 200 000 educators, secondary school and college students and their parents. Generally, outreach program wider audience totals to about one million people a year.

The Tolerance Centre portfolio features a number of international mega — projects, among which stands out FIFA 2018 World Cup. For the first time in the nearly 100-year history of the Championships all its staff received training on non-discriminatory behavior through designed and delivered by the Tolerance Centre course.

Main program highlights for 2024 feature a launch of All-Russian antibullying project «Everyone Matters», a pilot programme «Studying at the Crossroads of Cultures», which aims to enhance schoolteacher’s intercultural competences, and a project called «Cross-Cultural Workout» focused on social and cultural adaptation of international students in the Russian universities.

The “Lesson in the Tolerance centre” programme

Each lesson in this programme begins with interactive voting, employing the Tolerance Centre's interactive infrastructure. Participants answer several focused questions via the individual i-pod provided for each work station at the Centre. A frontal discussion takes place on the voting results, after which the schoolchildren watch a short video film, made specially for each session.
